Collection: Jewellery Care Guide
Timeless pieces deserve timeless care
Proper care will help your jewellery stay beautiful for longer - especially pieces you wear often. To help your jewellery stay beautiful for years to come, we have created a guide to caring for your pieces - including Silver, Gold and Earrings in particular.
General Jewellery Care
- Avoid contact with water, lotions, perfumes, hairsprays and cleaning products
- Remove jewellery before bathing, swimming, exercising or sleeping
- Store pieces separately in a dry place - ideally in your Fernwood & Fox cotton pouch or a soft lined box
Sterling Silver Care
- Silver may naturally tarnish over time - this is normal and caused by exposure to air.
- Gently polish with a soft silver polishing cloth to restore shine
- For deeper cleans: use mild soap in warm water, then rinse and dry thoroughly
- Avoid silver dips, abrasive pads or harsh chemicals
9ct Gold Care
- Gold jewellery is less prone to tarnish but still benefits from gentle care
- Clean with a soft cloth to remove oils or fingerprints
- Avoid abrasive cleaners and polishing cloths not made for gold
- Store away from harder metals to prevent scratching
Caring For Earrings
- Always clean earrings gently before and after wear
- For hygiene avoid sharing earrings
- Keep backs and posts dry and store them together to prevent loss or scratches
- Use your Fernwood & Fox polishing cloth for gentle cleaning - do not wet the cloth
